Meet Tracey: BACP-Accredited Neurodivergent Therapist

Hello, I’m Tracey Cleary, founder of Cleary Counselling.
I spent years navigating a trail of misdiagnoses before finally receiving my own autism and ADHD diagnoses in adulthood—an experience that taught me how isolating it feels when the system doesn’t see you. I’m COSCA & BACP Accredited, certified in EMDR and Hypno-CBT, and I’m currently writing a book on my neurodiverse journey working titled The Outsider’s Paradox.
From living through my own late-diagnosis discoveries to raising my child with additional needs in a rugby-mad, fun-loving household (alongside our ever-energetic Havanese-Poodle—commonly known as a Hav-a-poo), I understand what it’s like to feel “too much” and to fight for moments of calm.
My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and deeply collaborative. We’ll move at your pace—using EMDR to gently reprocess trauma, Hypno-CBT to reframe unhelpful beliefs, and relational counselling to rebuild trust in yourself and others. Together, we’ll carve out micro-steps—simple, achievable actions that honour your energy, your brain, and your story.
I work with clients of all ages, genders, orientations, and neurotypes—supporting people exploring autism, ADHD, personality challenges, addiction, relational trauma, and more. All my work is fully supervised, GDPR-compliant, and governed by the codes of COSCA & BACP.
If you’re ready to explore what healing looks like for you—at your pace, in your own voice—let’s start this journey together. Reach out today.
With You, As You Are: A Compassionate Framework
This is not a set of rules—it’s a promise to meet you with care, wherever you are. At Cleary Counselling, I believe that healing unfolds most fully when it’s rooted in compassion, authenticity, and respect for every individual’s unique neurotype and lived experience. My approach is shaped by these guiding principles:
1. Radical Compassion
I meet you where you are—without judgment, without rushing. Every feeling you bring is valid, and every story you carry deserves a listening ear and a caring heart.
2. Neurodiversity Affirmation
Being neurodivergent is not a problem to fix; it’s a way of being to honour. I celebrate cognitive differences and tailor our resources to support your sensory, processing, and communication preferences.
3. Trauma-Informed Care
Your nervous system remembers what words sometimes cannot. I will design each session and resource with safety, predictability, and choice at the forefront, so you can explore at your own pace.
4. Authentic Connection
Therapy isn’t a performance. It’s a genuine human exchange. We model emotional honesty and transparent boundaries to foster trust and mutual respect.
5. Non-Linear Growth
Progress isn’t a straight line. Healing can loop, pause, and surge unexpectedly. I hold space for the messiness of change and honour each step—whether forward, sideways, or backward.
6. Empowerment & Autonomy
You are the expert in your own life. I provide tools, frameworks, and reflections, but you decide what feels safe, useful, and meaningful. Your goals guide our work together.
7. Accessibility & Affordability
All sessions are online to minimise overheads, keep fees as low as possible, and let you choose the sensory environment that feels most comfortable and supportive.
8. Collaborative Spirit
Whether you’re a client, colleague, or curious visitor, I invite you to co-create this space. Your feedback shapes our practice, our resources, and our ongoing commitment to inclusive care.
I welcome your reflections, your questions, and your gentle nudges. Continuous feedback is not just helpful—it’s a gift. It allows us to attune more closely to your evolving needs and to walk beside you with greater clarity and care.
I honour the truth that each person is beautifully unique, and that your needs may shift with the tides of circumstance, emotion, and time. What feels right one day may feel different the next—and that’s not only okay, it’s expected.
You are not a puzzle to solve, but a whole being to support. I am here to meet you in your fullness, to celebrate your individuality, and to help you thrive in the space that feels most true to you.
