How long does each therapy session take?
Psychotherapy and Counselling sessions are usually 50 mins but can be longer if needed by arrangement

Our psychotherapy and counselling process is client led, which means that the number of sessions will be decided by you. Although regularly weekly sessions are advisable for a minimum of 6 weeks. We do recognize that occasionally 1 session might be all a client needs and at times adhering to weekly work isn't possible. Such as in the case of offshore workers.

What can Counselling help with?
Psychotherapy and Counselling can help with a whole host of issues, such as:

Family issues - including Abortion, Relationship breakdown, Miscarriage or Postnatal Depression

Mental health conditions - for example Personality Disorders, Schizophrenia Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)

Is Counselling suitable for everyone?
Psychotherapy and Counselling is not only suitable but highly recommended to aid processing a wide range of conditions. An assessment form will be sent to you before your appointment, which should be returned to us no later than 24 hours prior to the session time. The assessment process is to ensure that the client is going to receive the best possible care and that the service that they have asked for meets those needs.

Exceptions where psychotherapy and counselling is not recommended are very rare.
What type or model of counselling do you use?
Our psychotherapy and counselling models are Person-centred, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Hypno-CBT) and an EMDR Therapist in Training. I am also NHS trained in other areas such as DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) Decider Skills, ASIST suicide treatments.
Do you take self referrals?
Yes. Most referrals are from clients contacting us directly, however we can take referrals from other agencies.
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
However we do have limited free places for clients happy for our sessional work to be used as case studies in any ongoing research or counsellor professional development. Spaces are available for EMDR sessions.
Space can not be guaranteed and prospective clients would need to match the course or research criteria. All client information is anonymized and processed in strict adherence to GDPR.
Can I use Counselling in an emergency?
Psychotherapy and Counselling are NOT emergency services.
